Our Stories

Preschool is a time of big emotions and new experiences for our little ones. So it’s vital that we equip our students with strong social-emotional skills to prepare them for kindergarten. Tucker Turtle is our friendly social-emotional tool from the STREAMin3 curriculum that is  utilized in all classrooms from toddler to pre-k.

Tucker Turtle isn’t just any ordinary turtle—he’s a gentle guide for our preschoolers, helping them navigate their feelings and interactions. When children encounter challenges or feel overwhelmed, Tucker Turtle teaches them to “stop, tuck, and think” before reacting. This simple but powerful strategy encourages self-regulation, allowing children to pause, reflect on their emotions, and choose a positive response.

Through engaging stories, role-playing, and consistent reinforcement, Tucker Turtle becomes a relatable and comforting presence in our classrooms. Children learn that it’s okay to feel angry, sad, or frustrated, but it’s important to manage those feelings in a way that’s kind and thoughtful. We also share information about Tucker Turtle with our families so they can help their children manage their feelings at home.

By integrating Tucker Turtle into our daily routines, we’re not just teaching emotional intelligence—we’re building a foundation for lifelong skills in empathy, problem-solving, and resilience. We’re proud to see our students embrace these lessons, growing into confident and compassionate individuals.

At Peake Childhood Center, Tucker Turtle is more than just a character; he’s a valuable friend who helps our students thrive emotionally and socially in their early years.
