Reports To: Deputy Director
Salary Range: $33,000 - $37,000 annually, based on skills and experience
Terms of Employment: Salaried, 12 months
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Accounting/business courses and related work experience preferred.
- Three years’ experience in clerical and accounting practices
- Knowledge of appropriate software including Microsoft Office Suite
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of clerical and bookkeeping tasks as assigned by an administrator
- Answers phones, provides information, directs calls and takes messages
- Greets and assists staff, children, parents, and visitors
- Manipulates spreadsheets and responds to data requests.
- Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies and materials
- Maintains a complete and accurate bookkeeping system for the center
- Collects fees and makes bank deposits
- Learns and works with childcare specific software
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of bookkeeping methods and techniques applicable to the work of the center.
- Thorough knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and equipment
- Ability to support the center administration in the areas of budgeting, accounts payable, receivables and reconciliations.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Pays attention to detail and has highly organized work habits
- Demonstrates initiative and self-direction
- Exhibits flexibility and patience in working with all children, families and staff
- Maintains professional demeanor
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and lift to 35 pounds unassisted
