Accreditation
Our Hampton center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and our Newport News center is working toward accreditation. NAEYC-accredited programs meet NAEYC’s 10 standards for high-quality early childhood education. Accredited programs demonstrate that they provide a safe and healthy environment for children, have well-trained teachers, provide access to excellent teaching materials, and work with a curriculum that is appropriately challenging and developmentally sound.
Teacher Quality
Our teachers are highly trained, with many holding degrees in early childhood education or related fields. Our teachers participate in ongoing professional development to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our children.
Leadership
Peake’s leadership team has decades of experience in education and includes a retired public school superintendent. Our team regularly participates in professional learning, and together, we ensure all Peake children receive the best care and education.
Sliding Scale Tuition
Peake offers the only sliding-scale tuition in the area, and a family’s tuition costs are based on their gross income. Peake can also receive subsidies from Virginia’s Department of Social Services and the military. Donations made by individuals, organizations, and businesses/corporations help cover much of the funding not received through tuition. Nutrition
Breakfast, a hot lunch, and an afternoon snack based on U.S.D.A. Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) nutrition requirements are served to each child each day. These meals provide the opportunity for learning experiences, which form correct habits of eating in a pleasant atmosphere.
Family Engagement
As part of our efforts to engage our families, Peake hosts monthly meetings that offer opportunities to build meaningful connections. Peake family members must attend parent/family events each year, and our free workshops provide information about all aspects of parenting. We also invite parents to meet with teachers throughout the year and invite them to watch their children participate in performances and parades.
