Accreditation
PCC is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC-accredited programs have met NAEYC’s 10 standards for high-quality early childhood education. Accredited programs have demonstrated that they provide a safe and healthy environment for children, have teachers who are well-trained, have access to excellent teaching materials, and work with a curriculum that is appropriately challenging and developmentally sound. Additionally, PCC ranks as the highest-rated program in Hampton (Virginia Quality).
Teacher Quality
Our teachers are all highly trained and educated with many holding degrees in early childhood education or related fields. Our teachers participate in ongoing professional development to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our children.

Sliding Scale Tuition
PCC offers the only sliding scale tuition in the area. A families’ tuition costs are based on their income. PCC is also eligible to receive subsidy payments from Virginia’s Department of Social Services as well as the military. Tuition payments and fees make up approximately 34% of the center’s revenue. Donations made by individuals, organizations, and business/corporations help to cover much of the needed funding not received through tuition. Grants and local government support also assist in generating much-needed revenue.
Leadership
A well-experienced team of educators leads the center. Team members include a retired school superintendent and early childhood educators.

Nutrition
Breakfast, a hot lunch, and an afternoon snack based on U.S.D.A. Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) nutrition requirements are served to each child each day. These meals provide the opportunity for learning experiences, which form correct habits of eating in a pleasant atmosphere.
Family Engagement
As part of our family engagement we host monthly meetings that offer opportunities to build meaningful connections with other families while participating in free workshops that provide information about all aspects of parenting. We also invite parents to meet with teachers throughout the year and invite them to watch our children participate in performances and parades. Our parents are required to attend at least two parent/family events each year.
